Wladimir Klitschko's net worth is estimated at around $90 million in 2026, according to Celebrity Net Worth. That is roughly £68 million at the exchange rate on 14 October 2026. It is an estimate, not an audited figure. The firmer numbers are his earnings: Forbes listed him among the world's highest-paid athletes five times between 2012 and 2017, and his reported purse for the 2013 Povetkin fight was just under $17.5 million.
The former heavyweight champion is in the news this week for a reason that has nothing to do with boxing. On 8 October, a Los Angeles County judge made him temporary guardian of the estate of his 11-year-old daughter, who is the sole heir of her mother, the actor Hayden Panettiere. Panettiere died in August, aged 36.

What the court ruling actually means
The headlines can make it sound as if Klitschko inherited something. He didn't. According to the Associated Press report carried by NBC News, Judge Stephanie Santoro made him temporary guardian of his daughter's estate until a long-term administrator is appointed. The money and property stay hers. His job is to protect them.
His lawyer told the court the matter was urgent. A person described only as a non-relative was believed to have taken items after Panettiere's death and tried to sell some of her jewellery at a pawn shop. Her taxes also had to be filed this month. Panettiere's mother, Lesley Vogel, filed a document consenting to Klitschko's appointment.
"There is a high probability that property belonging to Hayden's Estate may be lost, damaged or dissipated," said Klitschko's 24 September petition, which stressed that his only aim was to protect his daughter's future assets.
The court reporting does not put a value on Panettiere's estate, and we won't guess at it. Klitschko has had full custody of their daughter since 2018, and she lives with him in Ukraine.
How Klitschko made his money
A decade of title fights
Most of his reported earnings came from the ring. Klitschko held world heavyweight titles for 4,382 days and beat 23 opponents in world title fights, both records. His title reign included major stadium fights in Germany. Eight of his fights were held in football stadiums, and all but one drew between 43,000 and 90,000 people.
The Povetkin payday
The most precisely reported purse came in Moscow in 2013. Wikipedia's account of the bidding says it guaranteed both fighters the biggest purses of their careers. Promoter Vladimir Hryunov, backed by businessman Andrey Ryabinsky, won the purse bid with an offer of $23,333,330. As champion, Klitschko was entitled to 75%, or $17,499,997, and Povetkin got $5,833,333. Klitschko's own company, K2 Promotions, had bid just $7.13 million.
Fury, Haye and Joshua
The other big nights are less precise, because the figures come from pre-fight reporting rather than published contracts:
- David Haye, Hamburg, 2011: the purse was split 50-50, and City AM reported Haye took around £15m.
- Tyson Fury, Düsseldorf, 2015: City AM put Klitschko's purse at about £15m, around three times Fury's, on a fight worth roughly £30m in total. Klitschko lost on points.
- Anthony Joshua, Wembley, 2017: before the fight, ESPN expected both men to earn more than Carl Froch's £8m purse, with German broadcaster RTL paying £4m for the rights. Celebrity Net Worth estimates each fighter made £10m to £15m. Klitschko lost in the 11th round in front of 90,000 people. Television and sponsors
German television was a second income stream. During his title reign, Klitschko signed a five-fight deal with RTL that, according to Wikipedia's account of the contract, guaranteed him €3 million in broadcasting rights per fight, plus €117,000 for each of the 23 adverts shown during the broadcast. That's about €2.7 million more per fight. In 2014, Forbes' estimate of his $28 million earnings included $4 million from endorsements, as CEOWORLD summarised the list.
The Forbes years
The Forbes profile lists him on The World's Highest-Paid Athletes in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017. The figures below are Forbes' earnings estimates as summarised by Celebrity Net Worth (the ranks come from Forbes' own profile page, and the 2014 amount matches CEOWORLD's write-up of that list):
| Forbes list | Rank | Estimated earnings |
|---|---|---|
| 2012 | 24 | $28m |
| 2013 | 41 | $24m |
| 2014 | 25 | $28m |
| 2015 | 63 | $22.5m |
| 2017 | 98 | $21.5m |
| Total | ~$124m |
That's about $124 million over five list years. It's gross income, before tax, trainers, managers and the cost of a fight camp, and it leaves out his first years as champion. It does show why a net worth in the tens of millions is plausible. It doesn't prove the exact $90 million figure.
Life after boxing
Klitschko retired in August 2017 rather than take a rematch with Joshua. He holds a PhD in sports science, which is where the ring name "Dr. Steelhammer" came from, and he has taught. In 2015 he co-initiated an executive education programme at the University of St. Gallen.
In 2016 he founded Klitschko Ventures, a Hamburg-based company run by chief executive Tatjana Kiel. It sells his F.A.C.E. the Challenge method (focus, agility, coordination, endurance) through coaching, education and a 2020 book co-written with Kiel. The method was the subject of a Harvard Business School case study in 2021. None of the sources we checked show how much the company adds to his personal wealth.
Since February 2022 his public life has been dominated by the war in Ukraine. He joined the Kyiv Territorial Defence, and his brother Vitali has been mayor of Kyiv since 2014. In March 2022 the brothers said they had raised €100 million for Ukraine through a fundraising campaign in Germany. That money was raised for Ukraine and has nothing to do with their personal wealth.
So, how much is Wladimir Klitschko worth?
The commonly quoted $90 million (about £68 million) is an estimate from a celebrity wealth site, not an audited figure, and other estimates vary. What we can say: Forbes' five earnings estimates add up to about $124 million, German television paid him millions per fight, and he has run a business since 2016. A fortune in the tens of millions fits that record.
