Susan Boyle's net worth is usually put somewhere between £22 million and £40 million, depending on who you ask. Neither figure comes from any official filing. What is on the public record are the accounts of companies she directs, filed at Companies House. The largest, Duil Limited, had £779,561 in the bank and owed Boyle £791,015 at its last filed year end. It was dissolved via voluntary strike-off on 12 May 2026.
She's back in the news: a blonde makeover shown off in New York in October 2026, a Cornetto dance track over the summer, and a BBC documentary on New Year's Eve. So here is what can actually be checked about her money, and what can't.

Where the £22m and £40m figures come from
The £22 million figure most often quoted traces back to Glasgow Live in May 2025, which said it was "estimated that Susan has amassed a staggering £22 million from her successful career". The article doesn't say how the figure was worked out, or whether it means total earnings or current wealth. Wikipedia now repeats it as her net worth.
The higher number, around £40 million, appeared in a Hello! ranking of Britain's Got Talent's richest contestants in April 2025, which put her top of the list but didn't say how it got there. Celebrity Net Worth uses $40 million.
What her company accounts actually show
Her Companies House appointments record lists three directorships, at Duil Limited, Speur Limited and Speur Films Limited, plus a designated-member role at Speur Business LLP. The one with the largest balances was Duil Limited (company number 07058638), incorporated in October 2009, the year of her audition. She became a director in March 2011, and the register lists her as its person with significant control, holding 75% or more of the shares.
Duil Limited, year by year
| Year end (31 March) | Cash at bank | Owed to Boyle | Shareholders' funds |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2016 | £1,431,015 | not split out | £6,665 |
| 2017 | £1,332,087 | £1,292,013 | £3,669 |
| 2018 | £1,280,572 | £1,235,166 | £128 |
| 2019 | £1,220,750 | £1,177,382 | -£1,896 |
| 2020 | £1,145,521 | £1,156,373 | -£4,517 |
| 2021 | £978,181 | £1,086,066 | -£6,622 |
| 2022 | £798,280 | £981,983 | -£8,447 |
| 2023 | £647,236 | £900,930 | -£10,836 |
| 2024 | £779,561 | £791,015 | -£13,495 |
From 2017 to 2024 the cash and the loan were close in size. In 2024 the company had £779,561 in the bank and owed Boyle £791,015, a loan the accounts describe as "interest free" with "no fixed term repayment". Shareholders' funds were slightly negative every year from 2019, and the 2024 accounts say the company "relies on the continued support of the director" to fund its day-to-day costs.
Both figures fell over time. The amount Duil owed her fell by about £500,000 between 2017 and 2024, and its cash fell by a similar amount. The filed accounts are the slimmed-down small-company version, with no profit and loss account, so they don't say what the money was spent on or where it went.
The 2017 accounts add one detail: "the total salary and dividends paid to the directors were £NIL". Whatever Boyle earned in that period, she wasn't taking it out of Duil as salary or dividends.
Duil was struck off in 2026
Duil applied to be struck off on 11 February 2026, the first Gazette notice followed on 24 February, and the company was dissolved via voluntary strike-off on 12 May 2026. The last accounts it filed run to 31 March 2024. Voluntary strike-off is an application made by the company itself, and the filings don't give a reason for the closure.
Her other companies
- Speur Limited (07058601), also incorporated in October 2009, is still active. It had net assets of £145,388 in 2016. Its latest micro-entity accounts, to 31 March 2026, were approved on 21 August 2026, signed by Boyle, and show net liabilities of £2,927 and no employees.
- Speur Films Limited (08182458), a subsidiary of Speur, had about £81,754 in the bank at March 2025 and slightly negative net assets.
- Speur Business LLP, where she was a designated member from 2013, has been dissolved.
At their latest filings, Duil reported £779,561 in cash and £791,015 owed to Boyle, Speur Films £81,754 in cash, and Speur £1,208 in current assets. That isn't the same as saying she is worth less than £1 million. These accounts only cover the companies themselves. They don't disclose her personal savings, pensions, property or any royalty income paid to her outside them.
How Susan Boyle made her money
Her record sales took off almost overnight. After her Britain's Got Talent audition in April 2009, her debut album I Dreamed a Dream sold 701,000 copies in its first week in the US, according to The New York Times, and in the UK it set a record for first-week sales by a debut album, according to NME. Six further albums followed, the most recent studio album being A Wonderful World in 2016, plus a 2019 compilation, Ten. By 2021 she had sold more than 25 million records worldwide.
Touring was cut short. Her Ten Tour started in Dundee in March 2020 and was cancelled days later when Covid hit. In 2023 she revealed she had suffered a stroke the year before.
The 2026 comeback: brand deals and a BBC documentary
Boyle returned to Instagram in April 2025 and, a month later, said she had been back in the recording studio "for the first time in six years". This year the comeback turned commercial:
- In June she released a dance remix of the "Just One Cornetto" jingle through a brand partnership with Cornetto, reported by RTÉ, under the banner #SuBoSummer.
- Also in June, she starred in Irn-Bru's "No Scotland, No Party" World Cup advert, covered by Forbes.
- She has launched her own range of branded clothing and accessories, Brit Brief reported in October.
- A BBC documentary, There's Only One Susan Boyle, a 45-minute film from Tern TV, airs on BBC One Scotland and iPlayer on 31 December 2026, according to the Press Association.
None of these deals has a published fee, so it isn't possible to say what, if anything, they add to her wealth.
Is Susan Boyle rich?
Her sales record is huge, but the revenue from a record isn't the same as the artist's income, let alone their wealth. She has described herself as careful with money: "I'm not a big spender, because for 47 years I didn't have any money, so I like to save it for a rainy day," she told Hello!.
But the exact number is unknown. Glasgow Live's £22 million estimate comes with no explanation of how it was calculated, the £40 million figure is unsourced, and her companies' filed accounts show modest balances, with the largest company owing her more than it held in cash. That gap between headline estimates and what the register shows is common. We found the same pattern in the accounts of James Blunt, Noel Gallagher and fellow Scot Lorraine Kelly.
Company figures are taken from accounts filed at Companies House by Duil Limited, Speur Limited and Speur Films Limited. Net worth estimates for private individuals are not verified figures.
