James Blunt's net worth in 2026 depends on who you ask. LADbible called him the richest contestant on The Celebrity Traitors this week, at an estimated £50 million. Celebrity Net Worth says $20 million, or approximately £15 million. Neither source points to published accounts behind its estimate. His company filings at Companies House are the closest thing to hard numbers, and the biggest of them reported net assets of £9.5 million.

Why the estimates are so far apart
The £50 million figure comes from LADbible's Celebrity Traitors "rich list", published on 2 October, the day after the series started on BBC One. It puts Blunt ahead of Jerry Hall (£20m) and Michael Sheen (£10m), but it doesn't say where the number comes from.
At the other end, Celebrity Net Worth lists him at $20 million in a profile updated on 1 October. We found no Sunday Times Rich List entry for him, which is where you would normally look for a British musician's fortune.
Both are unverified estimates. The more useful question is what can be checked.
What the Companies House accounts show
Blunt files under his real surname, Blount. His main vehicle is James Blunt Limited, set up in January 2001, before he had released a record. He is listed as its person with significant control, with 75% or more of the shares. Charles and Jane Blount, his parents, are also directors.
Its latest accounts, for the year to 31 March 2025, are unaudited small-company accounts. The profit and loss account was not filed, so turnover and profit stay private. The balance sheet is public:
| James Blunt Limited | 31 March 2025 | 31 March 2024 |
|---|---|---|
| Net assets | £9,546,896 | £8,808,081 |
| Cash at bank | £2,234,852 | £1,013,101 |
| Listed investments | £4,270,168 | £3,181,128 |
| Debtors | £4,349,672 | £6,242,698 |
| Corporation tax owed | £899,607 | £1,240,627 |
| Staff (average) | 5 | 4 |
The notes are worth a closer look. They record £5.2 million of "patents and rights acquired from James Blount", now fully amortised. In other words, the company bought rights from Blunt himself. The accounts do not say which rights. The company also paid £102,000 in rent to one of its directors during the year.
A company's net assets are not the same as its owner's wealth. The £9.5 million belongs to the company. These accounts tell you nothing about his personal assets, his debts, or what his music rights would fetch on the market today.
So £9.5 million is not a ceiling on his fortune, and it is not proof of £50 million either.
Where the money came from
Back to Bedlam and the royalties
Blunt left the Army in October 2002 after six years. He had served as a captain and was posted to Kosovo in 1999. His debut album, Back to Bedlam, came out in 2004 and had sold more than 12 million copies worldwide by the end of 2009. "You're Beautiful" reached number one in 13 countries, including the UK and the US. The Guardian reported that it was the best-selling album of the decade in Britain, with more than 3 million UK sales.
Six more albums followed, the latest being Who We Used to Be in 2023. None matched the debut, but songwriting credits keep paying out from airplay and streams long after a record leaves the charts.
Touring
He still tours heavily. His Back to Bedlam 20th Anniversary Tour ran to 45 dates in 2025. He announced his eighth album, Airplane Mode, in September. It is out on 6 November, and an arena tour starts in February 2027, with dates in Germany, Austria and Belgium already listed. We could not find any published box-office figures for his tours.
Pubs
Blunt bought the Fox and Pheasant in Chelsea from Greene King in 2017 and reopened it in 2018 after a restoration. In July 2026, The Caterer reported that he had bought the Carpenter's Arms in Hammersmith from Wren Pubs. The price was not disclosed. "It's an honour to be the custodian of this beautiful and important local landmark," he said.
The pub companies are small next to the music company. Blunt Pubs Limited, where he holds 75% or more, reported fixed assets of £2.9 million in February 2026. It also had £3.1 million owed within a year, which left net assets of £197,069. Blunt Trading Limited, registered as a pub business, had about £1 million in the bank and net assets of £203,503 in March 2025. A new company, Carpenters Trading Limited, was registered in his name in August 2026 at the same address. Companies House also lists him as a director of a drinks wholesaler set up in 2025, Ten Four JB Limited, in which he holds between 25% and 50%.
Homes
He lives mainly on Ibiza and owns a chalet in Verbier, where a ski lift is named after him. In 2012 he opened a restaurant, La Vache, at the top of it with Carl Fogarty and Lawrence Dallaglio. We found no reliable valuation for the Verbier chalet.
What The Celebrity Traitors pays
The prize is not for the players. The 21 celebrities on the second series, which started on 1 October, are competing for up to £100,000 for charities of their choice. We found no confirmed figure for any appearance fee. The timing suits him, though: the series runs in the weeks before Airplane Mode comes out.
So what is James Blunt really worth?
There is no published figure that settles it. The numbers that can be checked are company numbers: £9.5 million of net assets in his main company at March 2025, plus small pub businesses. Those filings cannot tell you his personal net worth, and they do not confirm either the £15 million or the £50 million estimate. Without a substantiated valuation of his personal wealth, treat both as unverified estimates.
