Jamie Carragher's net worth is not publicly verified. Online estimates run from about £7.5m to £38m, and none comes from an official source. What is on the record is narrower: on 13 October 2026 a judge dismissed HMRC's bankruptcy petition against him after the tax authority confirmed the debt had been settled, and his two companies reported combined net assets of roughly £2.1m in their latest accounts.
Carragher is a regular on Sky Sports' Premier League coverage, and the petition sent plenty of people looking for his finances. Here is what the court reports, the estimates and the Companies House filings actually say, and where the gaps are.
The HMRC petition: what happened, in order
- 26 August 2026 — lawyers acting for HMRC presented a bankruptcy petition against James Lee Duncan Carragher at the High Court in London, according to court filings first reported by City AM. The 26 August date is given by Inside World Football and specialist firm Tax Disputes.
- 27–28 August — press reports put the unpaid tax at around £700,000 to £800,000. That figure was never confirmed by HMRC, which said it does not comment on individual cases and only petitions for bankruptcy "as a last resort".
- Carragher's response — a spokesperson called it "a private tax matter that should have been resolved sooner" and said it would be "resolved imminently".
- 13 October 2026 — Judge Nicholas Briggs dismissed the petition after Kevin Hassan, for HMRC, told the court the debt had been settled. No figure was disclosed in court, as reported by Liverpool.com and the Press Association.
A bankruptcy petition is a request to the court, not a bankruptcy. No bankruptcy order was made, and the case ended with the debt paid.
The reports cited here do not explain how the tax debt arose. The public record shows only that the tax was owed personally, that it was settled and that the court closed the case.
Jamie Carragher net worth estimates compared
Estimates for Carragher's net worth vary widely. We found no entry for him in the Sunday Times Rich List, so every number online is a third-party estimate.

We could not find a stated method behind any of the higher figures, so treat the £30m-plus numbers with caution.
What Carragher's company accounts show
Companies House gives us something firmer than guesswork, though it only covers money held inside companies, not his personal bank accounts, pension or home. Carragher is a director of two active companies, both registered at the same accountant's office in Crosby, Merseyside.
Jamie Carragher Limited (08303075)
Incorporated in November 2012, just before he retired as a player, and listed under "media representation services". Carragher is the sole director and holds more than 50% but less than 75% of the shares. Its filed accounts show:
| Year to 31 July | Net assets | Cash at bank |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | £1,044,753 | £340,222 |
| 2024 | £940,747 | £235,213 |
| 2025 | £1,016,795 | £399,842 |
The company had two employees and is filed under the small companies regime, so no profit and loss account or turnover is published. Most of its assets (about £1.38m) sit under "other debtors", money owed to the company, and the accounts do not say by whom.
Jamie Carragher Promotions Ltd (05492213)
The older company, set up in June 2005, is now classed as letting and operating real estate. It files micro-entity accounts and has no staff. At 31 July 2025 it reported fixed assets of £1,024,685 and net assets of £1,081,317 (£1,089,507 a year earlier), according to Companies House. Carragher is listed as a person with significant control, holding more than 25% and no more than 50% of the shares. Nicola Carragher, the company secretary, is also listed as a person with significant control.
Add the two together and you get about £2.1m of net assets across the companies. That is not his net worth. It leaves out personal property, savings and pensions, and he does not own all of either company. These company figures cannot confirm or disprove the personal wealth estimates.
Where his money comes from
Playing career
Carragher spent his whole professional career at Liverpool, from 1996 to 2013, making 737 appearances, second only to Ian Callaghan in the club's history. He won the Champions League, two FA Cups, three League Cups and the UEFA Cup, and earned 38 England caps. We found no reliable published figure for his playing wages.
Sky Sports and Monday Night Football
He joined Sky Sports after retiring in 2013 and co-presents Monday Night Football. Sky does not publish what it pays pundits, unlike the BBC, which discloses its top earners each year (see our piece on Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates's BBC pay). Some websites claim he earns around £1m a year from Sky, but we could not trace that figure to a primary source.
CBS Sports and Stick to Football
Since 2020 he has been part of CBS Sports' Champions League studio team in the US, and he appears on Stick to Football, the podcast and YouTube show from Gary Neville's The Overlap. The terms of both deals are private.

The bottom line
Carragher's personal net worth has not been published by any official source. The record shows two companies reporting combined net assets of approximately £2.1m at 31 July 2025, a Sky career running since 2013, a US TV role, and a tax debt reported at £700,000 to £800,000 that was settled before any bankruptcy order was made. Celebrity Net Worth lists $10m (approximately £7.5m), but this remains unverified, and the company accounts cannot establish his personal wealth or validate any published estimate.
