Wayne and Coleen Rooney's combined net worth is estimated at around £200 million in 2026, according to The Guardian. Other UK estimates put Wayne at roughly £170m and Coleen at about £15m. With their Disney+ series The Real Rooneys now streaming, the balance of power has shifted: these days Coleen is reported to be the bigger earner.
None of these figures comes from audited accounts. They are press estimates, built from contracts, property and company filings, and they don't always agree. Here is what sits behind them.
The Rooneys' fortune at a glance
| Item | Figure | Source / status |
|---|---|---|
| Combined net worth | ~£200m | Estimate, The Guardian (19 Sept 2026) |
| Wayne Rooney | ~£170m | Estimate, WalesOnline / Mirror (2025–26) |
| Coleen Rooney | ~£15m | Estimate, WalesOnline / The Guardian (2026) |
| Peak Man Utd wage | Up to £300,000 a week | Reported, 2014 contract |
| Match of the Day deal | ~£400,000 a year | Reported, not confirmed by the BBC |
| The Real Rooneys (Disney+) | ~£10m deal | Reported; includes production costs, not family pay alone |
| Cheshire family home | ~£20m | Reported value |
Why the gap between £185m and £200m? Different outlets, different methods. WalesOnline simply added its two individual estimates. The Guardian gave a rounded figure for the couple. Neither is wrong so much as approximate, and it's worth treating any single number with caution.
Wayne Rooney's net worth: the football money
Most of the family wealth still traces back to Wayne's playing career. He remains Manchester United's all-time record scorer with 253 goals, and his 53 England goals stood as the national record until Harry Kane passed it.
His February 2014 contract extension at Old Trafford was reported to be worth up to £300,000 a week, roughly £15.6m a year. On top of wages came endorsements: Forbes put his 2015 earnings at $26.9m, including about $7m from sponsors. That is one year's income, not a net worth estimate; Forbes has not published a net worth figure for him.
After United came a return to Everton in 2017, then D.C. United in MLS and a player-coach spell at Derby before he retired as a player in January 2021. The management years that followed were less kind. Derby, D.C. United, Birmingham City (sacked in January 2024 after 15 games) and Plymouth Argyle (left by mutual consent at the end of 2024) added to his earnings, but by amounts never reliably quantified. No payoff figures have been confirmed, so we don't count them.
The £21m image rights company
The clearest paper trail is Stoneygate 48 Ltd, the image rights and investment firm Wayne set up in 2006. He placed it into solvent liquidation in 2021, declaring an expected payout of about £20.8m. According to the Mirror, its final accounts (to March 2020) listed around £1m in property, £8.9m in investments and £11.9m owed to the company. The paper reported in November 2025 that he had taken around £21m out of the firm and was due a further £800,000 tax rebate from HMRC.
One caveat: that money was already his through the company. Winding it up moved it into his own hands; it didn't make him £21m richer.
Coleen: reportedly the main breadwinner
Coleen's estimated £15m looks small next to her husband's figure, but press reports say her income has overtaken his. Among the main contributors:
- I'm a Celebrity (2024): a reported fee of around £1.5m, said at the time to be a record for the show. She finished runner-up to Danny Jones.
- Primark clothing range: The Guardian reports it is thought to be worth more than Wayne's £400,000-a-year Match of the Day contract.
- Disney+: the 2023 documentary Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, and now The Real Rooneys.
On 29 September 2026, The Sun reported that newly filed accounts for CWR 2021 Ltd, a company both Rooneys direct, show company funds of about £2.4m at September 2025, against roughly £580,000 a year earlier. The paper framed it as Coleen's earnings, but a company balance is not the same thing as personal take-home pay.
Wagatha Christie: payday or legal bill?
The 2022 libel win over Rebekah Vardy is often described as a payday. It wasn't. Vardy was ordered to cover 90% of Coleen's legal costs, which had grown to about £1.8m, as the BBC reported. In May 2025 the two sides settled the main bill at £1.19m, and the judge also ordered £212,266 in assessment costs, according to The Guardian. That reimburses lawyers' bills; it adds nothing to the Rooneys' wealth.
The Real Rooneys: what the Disney+ deal is worth
The ten-part series, filmed over a year at the couple's reported £20m Cheshire mansion, launched on Disney+ on 24 September with eight episodes. Two special episodes follow on 1 October, according to Disney. It covers Wayne stepping away from management and Coleen building her own business. In one episode, Wayne says he recently learned that his maternal grandmother's family were Polish Jews.
The deal has been reported at around £10m, though that figure covers production, not just the family's cut. Asked by The Guardian whether they were being paid "loads", Wayne was frank:
"I wouldn't say loads. Of course, we're getting paid to do it. We're not going to do it for nothing."
Wayne's media income today
Wayne has settled into punditry. He is reported to earn about £400,000 a year from the BBC for Match of the Day. He also fronts The Wayne Rooney Show podcast for BBC Sport and, since August 2026, Stick to United with Mark Goldbridge on The Overlap network, sponsored by Disney+. Fees for the podcasts haven't been disclosed.
That is solid money, but a long way from £300,000 a week. His fortune now works mainly as a store of past earnings, while Coleen's media and retail deals drive the household's new income.
How the Rooneys compare
The Guardian notes the couple haven't reached the wealth of David and Victoria Beckham. For comparison, see our breakdowns of Rio Ferdinand's net worth and Harry Kane's fortune. The Sunday Times Rich List's under-30 ranking put the couple at £96m back in 2016. We found no specific Rooney valuation in the 2024–2026 lists, so treat the current £185m–£200m range as a press estimate rather than an official ranking.
